“I can wholeheartedly recommend Howard McKenzie and his skillful painting crew. Over the last several years Howard has completed two major projects and a few smaller ones at our home in San Rafael. We’ve been extremely satisfied with the results. In 2009, the exterior of our home was in poor condition with peeling exposed beams. Howard’s painters did extensive preparation on the entire exterior before applying the correct primer and high quality paint. Their work was impeccable.

Howard’s crew also completed several other home projects for us. We had an ugly retaining wall out of pressure treated wood that had turned green. After numerous attempts at finding the right stain, Howard found the one stain that worked to get rid of the green. Our eyesore retaining wall is now an attractive feature in our backyard. Other contractors had told us pressure treated wood could not be stained.

This year we had Howard back for inside painting consisting of two bathrooms, a home office and replacing and painting a living room wall. The home office had paint over wallpaper and the seams and imperfections showed through. We dreaded the thought of stripping it off. Howard had a solution. The walls were skimmed before the painting. The walls turned out great and all the flaws have disappeared.

I have the highest respect for Howard and his workers. When his painters are in the house, they are considerate of the homeowner – no radios blaring while they work! They arrive early each day and at the end of the day clean up and vacuum thoroughly before leaving.

After dealing with many other contractors over the last 35 years, I can honestly say Howard Mckenzie is one of the best contractor experiences we’ve had. He gives a lot of thought and attention to each job, prepares detailed bids and his fees are fair. His standards are high and he guarantees you will be satisfied with the results.
